Production

Drill Collars and Kellys Plant runs a unique full production cycle. The shops are equipped with modern European machinery.

The current production capacities of the plant include:

Metallurgy

The production capacities of the shop allow us to produce a wide variety of steel including low alloy, high alloy, and stainless steel.

Melting is carried out in electric-arc furnaces followed by further treatment and finishing in a ladle furnace for secondary refinement. All the stages of the metallurgical production are aimed at producing the best quality steel.

Forging

The forging production unit is equipped with a radial-forging machine and a fast-acting press used for the production of drill collars and kellies.

All the forged bars are heat treated full length which includes quenching and tempering to ensure the desired physical and mechanical properties.

Machining

The flow line of the machining shop is equipped with special high-performance equipment for manufacturing drill collars and kellies and includes: turning centerless machines; drilling machines for deep drilling; threading machines;

special machines for the processing of pipes including units for hard-banding with hard alloy.

Hard-banding

Upon request, we deposit a hardfacing alloys onto drill pipes to increase their wear resistance and optimize the drilling processes. We use the following hardfacing alloys: tungsten carbide, ARNCO 150 XT, ARNCO 350 XT, Castolin OTW-10SS, Castolin OTW-13CF

The hard-banding is performed automatically with a carefully controlled amount of overlays. A standard hand-banding layer increases the outer diameter of the pipe by 1/32 inches.

Quality Assurance

To ensure the production of the best quality equipment, which delivers long service life, Drill Collar and Kellys plant has modern quality control equipment, active control devices, and a quality control laboratory, which can perform express analysis and long-term analytical research.

All the products undergo the following stages of quality control:
